Region 5
TOMOKA STATE
PARK
by Jan & Gene
Powell
and Betty & Jim Weite
Join us for
three nights and four days of camping at Tomoka State Park, in
Ormond Beach Florida. The dates are March 20 to
22,2012.
There are many
things to see and do in this area. You can relax in the park,
ride bikes, rent a kayak or bring your own and wander through
the marshes or drive over to the nearby beaches. You can either
bike or drive the scenic loop through the waterways that
surround this park. Bulow Plantation and Sugar Mill ruins are
nearby. There are many historic homes in the area and Historic
Trolley tours available. The Casements, winter home of John D.
Rockefeller where he died in 1937, fronts a splendid garden
bordering the Halifax River. The Ormond Memorial Art Museum and
Gardens is across the street and these are two beautiful areas
open to the public to tour. Take a walk over or under the bridge
connecting beautiful parks and gardens on each side or visit the
Daytona International Speedway and take a tour of the track.
This park is
unique in that we will have our own social hall, the Visitor
Program Building, right in the campground, which we have
reserved for our dinners and games in the evenings. We will have
a potluck dinner on Tuesday, our first night; enjoy a catered
dinner Wednesday and Pizza on Thursday. We will enjoy evening
campfires for roasting marshmallows and hotdogs, and meeting new
friends.

must make their own camping reservation Tomoka State Park at

marshmallows and roasting sticks. Make your reservation as
winter visitors till this park early. Try to reserve as close to
the hosts as possible, in the area of sites 6 thru
